Leaders in the Bitcoin Cash community have begun a soft debate over the cryptocurrency's brand identity.
Bitcoin ABC developer George Donnelly has suggested that websites and exchanges that list Bitcoin Cash should use the orange color scheme as it is laid out on BitcoinCash.org.
Roger Ver, owner of Bitcoin.com, responds that any color scheme is fine:
"Despite what you may have heard, there are no official Bitcoin Cash colors or logos...That doesn’t mean that it’s not OK to promote orange over green or one logo over another, but let’s not fool the world into thinking that there is some official version."
Bitcoin.com itself uses the green logo to represent Bitcoin Cash, as do the subreddits /r/btc and /r/bitcoincash.
One issue is that Bitcoin itself uses an orange logo consistently; as such, Bitcoin Cash logos that use the orange color must differentiate themselves from Bitcoin's logo by using a "dollar bill" style icon.
As other commenters have noted, Bitcoin Cash's brand identity is ultimately built by the consensus of the community―not by any formal legal trademarks, at least at the moment.
